March 2013 School Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

First Confession will take place in Balla Church on Thursday 7th March ’13 at 7.30p.m.

The school will be closed on Monday 18th March ’13 for the Bank Holiday.

In preparation for our Open Day we will be having a clean up day on Thursday 21st March ’13. from 1; 30p.m. to 3p.m. Any volunteers and help would be very much appreciated.

Our Enrolment/Open Day is on Saturday 23rd March ’13, from 3-5p.m. Our new playground will be blessed and refreshments served.
We are requesting our great bakers and sandwich makers to supply some goodies on the day.

Pupils should bring in €2 as we will be having an Easter Egg hunt before the Easter holidays.

The school will be closed from Monday 25th March to Friday 6th April ’13 for the Easter Holidays.

We wish every one a Happy Easter.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Congratulations to our Credit Union art competition winners-
Emily Clarke, Molly Clarke and Oisín Jordan.

Best of luck to our teams, taking part in the table tennis competition, which will be held in Breaffy Sports Arena, on Wednesday 6th February ’13. The cost of the bus is €5 per person / €10 per family of three.

The school will be closed on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th February ’13 for the mid-term break.

First Confession will be held in Balla Church at 7.30p.m. on Thursday 7th March’13.

We will hold the official opening of our new playground in March.
Invitations and more information at a later date.

Keep up the good work with the ‘healthy eating’. Well done everyone.

January 2013 School Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome back after the Christmas break. We wish all our pupils and families a ‘Happy New Year’ and hope they had an enjoyable Christmas.

In keeping with the ‘New Year – New Healthy Eating Plan’, we ask that you encourage your child to include a piece of fruit or vegetable in their school lunch.

First Confession for our second class pupils will be held on the 7th March ’13, at 7.30p.m. in Balla Church. (More details nearer the date).

Uniform days for all classes are, Tuesday and Thursday.
Tracksuit days for all classes are, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Thanks to everyone for their great support for our Christmas Concert, we hope you all enjoyed the Plays and watching your DVD’s of our budding actors and actresses.

News from the Board of Management:

Construction on our new playground should, weather permitting, begin next week. We look forward to its completion and good weather to enjoy it.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Our Christmas Play will be held on Thursday, 13th December ’12, at 7.30pm. All our actors’ and actresses’ should be at the school at 6.30p.m. in preparation for the performance. “Break a Leg” Everyone!!!.
We are taking orders for the D.V.D. of the performance. Please fill in the order form if you would like to order one @ €8 each.

We would be most grateful if anyone who knows a Firm/Shop would ask them to donate a spot prize.

The School will close at 12 noon on Friday 21st December’12 and reopen on Monday 7th January’13. If we have icy weather conditions remember to listen to Mid-West Radio, for updates on school closures.

We wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

November 2012 School Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome back after the mid-term break.

The plans for our new playground will be on display on the table in the hallway, until 13th November ’12, for anyone wishing to view them.

JT Sports have the following Manulla tracksuit stock available at a reduced price.
Navy bottoms: 8-9 x1  6-7×2  10-11 x 3
Navy polo shirt: 4-5×1  7-8×1
Royal sweatshirt: 4-5×1  8-9×1  11-12×1 14-15×1  15-16×2.
Call in to check out their reduced prices.

All Christmas shoeboxes should be returned to the school by Friday 9th November ’12. Again, thank you for your generosity.

Mass for the deceased of the Parish will be held in the Community Centre on Friday 16th November ’12 at 8.15 p.m.

On Tuesday 27th November ’12 the pupils will go on a trip to the Falconry in Ashford and the Hatchery in Cong. The pupils should bring in €5 for the bus; the rest of the trip will be sponsored by the school.

Please be aware that we have a pupil with a severe nut allergy and that no food containing nuts should be brought into the school.

For the month of November, as part of our healthy eating policy, we will be encouraging our pupils to eat fruit & vegetables.
