June ’17 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

 

On Thursday the 8th June we will have a ‘taster’ class of Hip Hop dance. The class will cost €2 per child. Please have the money in by Thursday.

 

We will host our annual Ice Cream Fun Day on Friday 9th June ’17 from 1.30p.m. to 3p.m. Pupils should bring in €2. We hope everyone has a fun day.

 

The junior classes will go on their school tour on Tuesday 13th June’17.

To Graune Pet Farm. Hope everyone enjoys the day.

 

Congratulations to our Gaelic and Hurling County Champions. We have had a great year on the sporting front. Thanks to all our loyal supporters.

The DVD’s of the County Football Final will be delivered to the school on the 12th June ’17. The cost of the DVD is €10.

 

Our Graduation Mass for 6th class pupils will be held on Monday 26th June ’17 at 12 noon. We wish Jillian Clarke, Jude Clarke, Lucy Connolly, Thomas Deasy McNicholas, Oisín Jordan, Emma Leneghan, Joseph Leneghan, Brian Tansey, Darren Tansey and Adam Walsh all the best, as they leave us to start their post primary education.

We would be most grateful if any pupils who have books/school books they no longer need, to donate them to the school.

 

The school will close for the summer holidays on 28th June ’17 at 12 noon. The school will reopen on Friday 1st September ’17.

 

We hope everyone has a great summer and we look forward to welcoming you all, especially our new Infants in September.

We say thank you and well done to both our Parents and pupils for all their hard work this year.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We proudly congratulate our All – Ireland Champions. On Tuesday 1st April ’14 the boys’ team of Aaron Tansey (captain), Brian Tansey, Oisín Jordan, Darren Tansey, Gavin Jennings and Jude Clarke became All –Ireland Table Tennis Champions for the first time in the school’s history. It is a great achievement for the boys and the school. Our girls continued the winning streak, coming in a very respectable third place. Congratulations to the girl’s team of Emily Clarke (captain), Anna Mae Clarke, Saoirse Jordan, Emma Leneghan, Ríona Jordan and Jillian Clarke.

We will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, 11th April ’14. Pupils should bring in €2.

The school will be closed from Monday 14th April ’14 to Friday 25th April ’14 for the Easter Holidays.

Congratulations to the Library Art winners – Emily Clarke, Niall Deegan, Chloe Connolly, Anna Mae Clarke and Ríona Jordan.

The In Schools Table Tennis Competition results were;

Girls Div.1: 1st: Saoirse Jordan, 2nd.Emily Clarke, 3rd Anna Mae Clarke, 4th Lucy Connolly.  Div. 2. 1st. Emma Leneghan, 2nd. Molly Clarke, 3rd. Ríona Jordan, 4th Megan Hughes.
L.P.B. sponsored the prizes and Mairéad Tansey presented the trophy and medals.

Kevin Devaney sponsored and presented the trophy and medals for the boys.

March 2014 Newsletter

Dear Parents / Guardians:

Good luck to our table tennis teams, who will participate in the competition in Breaffy Sports Arena on 6th March ’14. The cost of the bus will be €5.00.

Enrolment for 2014/15 will take place on the 6th March ’14 in the school from 7-8p.m.

The 6th March ’14 is ‘World Book Day’. Your child will have received a voucher which is intended to encourage a love of reading and books in your child.

All classes will attend athletics training in Claremorris on 12th March ’14. Pupils should bring in €3.00.

The 10th – 15th March ’14 is designated Seachtain na Gaeilge. We encourage you to speak the cúpla focal as gaeilge, with your child.
The school will be closed on the 17th March ’14. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all our families.

Sarah Cameron will be in the school on 20th March ’14 to assess our Green School Water application. Each family will receive a questionnaire on water usage shortly. Pupils should be thinking of water conservation ideas.

First Confession will be held in Balla Church on 27th March ’14.We wish Anna Mae Clarke and Aaron Horan all the best, on the occasion.

May 2013 School Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The pupils will attend a ‘Day of Athletics’ in Claremorris, on Thursday 2nd May ’13. Pupils should bring in €1 each. The cost of the bus is being funded by money raised at the Bag Packing fund raiser earlier in the year.

We welcome back Michael McHale, who tutors Gaelic football on Thursdays. For the remainder of the school year pupils should wear their tracksuits on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

The school will be closed on Friday 3rd May and Monday 6th May ’13 for the May Bank Holiday.

The children, who will be making First Communion on Saturday 18th May ’13 at 12 noon, will go on Retreat to Knock on Wednesday the 8th May ’13. The cost of the bus is €5 per child. The Retreat itself is being sponsored by the Parish.

JT Sports will be measuring pupils for tracksuits on Friday 10th May’13. Please return the order form by Tuesday 7th May’13.

“Fruit Kebab Day” begins on Tuesday 7th May’13. Your child will be given a colour and your child should bring in a fruit that is that colour. All the fruits will be combined on skewers for the whole classroom to sample as a fruit mix. Your co-operation with our healthy eating policy is much appreciated.

The Relationship & Sex Education programme with Cathal Kearney, for pupils of Fifth class concludes on Tuesday 23rd April ’13.

The Green School committee would like to thank Parents for participating in the ‘matching up water usage game’

Laura Heneghan from An Taisce will be in the school on Tuesday 23rd April ’13 to demonstrate how to make environmentally friendly house hold cleaner. Every pupil should bring in an empty spray bottle/water bottle and a jam jar for the demonstration.

Teams from the senior classes, will go to Milebush on Friday 26th April ’13 for a soccer tournament. Please bring in €5 for the bus.

JT Sports will be measuring pupils for new tracksuits on the 10th May ’13, in the school.

Our school tour this year is on the 7th June ’13 to Westport House and Adventure Centre. More details nearer the date.

Congratulations to our past pupils who are members of the winning team in the All Ireland Secondary School Table Tennis competition.
They are – Chloe Tansey, Chloe Durkan, Emer Gilligan, Leanne Jennings and Shauna Freyne.
