May ’17 Newsletter

Congratulations and well done to our All Ireland Boys and Girls Table Tennis Champions. We are so proud! We would like to thank everyone for their support, especially, the Parents who bag packed and raised €455.30, our B.O.M, Fr. Carney, the Parents’ Assc., Councilors, Michael Kilcoyne and Al McDonald, who all sponsored the the teams and to Liam Devaney, Liam Tansey and everyone for their support and encouragement.

 

Congratulations also to Jillian Clarke, who won an award in the Local History & Folklore Essay Competition.

 

On the 10th May ’17, the Communion class will go on Retreat to Knock, in preparation for their First Holy Communion on Saturday 20th May ’17. Pupils should bring a packed lunch and a drink.

 

An R.S.E. talk will be given to the fifth and sixth class pupils on 16th May and their Parents/Guardians will attend on the 23rd May ’17.

 

As the weather is so nice, we have decided to hold Sports Day tomorrow, Tuesday 9th May. Please bring in a sack, an old tie/scarf and a spud and spoon. Don’t forget the sun screen, a hat and extra drinks.

 

If any of the pupils of sixth class would like to donate their sixth class books to the school at the end of term, we would be delighted to have them.

 

On the 19th May ’17 we will be hosting a Super hero Day in aid of the LauraLynn Foundation, who provides respite for seriously ill children. Pupils should dress up as their favourite outfit, and donate €2 to the cause.

 

For the duration of the good weather, pupils are permitted to wear their shorts and T-shirts to school

April ’17 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

 

Cybersafeireland.Org, has sent us an email advising us that in response to Parents telling them they feel overwhelmed on the subject of internet safety, they have developed a 3-minute scribe animation video with simple advice for Parents. The video can be found on their home page cybersafeireland.org. We recommend a visit to the webpage.

 

The bucket collection organised by the Parents Association has raised €1,071. Thanks very much to everyone who participated.

 

We will be having an Easter Egg Hunt on Friday 7th April’17. Pupils should bring in €2 before Friday.

 

The school will be closed from Monday 10th to Friday 21st April ’17 for the Easter holidays .We hope everyone enjoys the break.

 

We will be bag packing in Dunnes Stores, Castlebar on Friday 21st April to raise funds for the trip to Dublin for the All Ireland Table Tennis Championship. Thanks to those who have already volunteered and we welcome any further volunteers, to optimize our fund raising chances.

 

 

 

 

The Table Tennis Championship takes place in Dublin on 27th April ’17. Due to the early start we will be overnighting on the 26th April. The school will remain open for the junior classes. The senior classes will receive their itinerary after the holidays.

 

 

We will be continuing with our ‘Walk on Wednesdays’. Well done everyone!

March ’17 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians:

 

County Photos will call to collect the returned proof cards on Thursday 9th March ’17.

Please have your proofs/money returned to us by then.

 

The pupils of all classes will attend an athletics workshop in Claremorris on Thursday 16th March ’17. (This is the workshop that had to be cancelled back in November ’16).

 

The school will be closed for St. Patrick’s Day on Friday 17th March’17. We will be marching in the Balla Parade on the day. Please assemble at the Car Park at 11.45 am and wear your school tracksuit. We wish you all a ‘Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

 

The Central Mayo Qualifiers, 5 aside soccer will be held in Milebush, Castlebar on Wednesday 22nd March ’17. ( more details to follow, as we get them).

 

The school will be closed on Thursday 23rd March ’17, as there is a ‘Whole School Seminar’ for the Teachers on that day.

 

 

 

 

 

The Parents Association will hold a Flag Day on Saturday 25th March’17 to raise funds for the school. Your participation on the day is much appreciated.

 

Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Teams who won the Connaught Region Table Tennis Championship. The final will take place in Dublin. Well done to everyone.

 

The Bakeathon for Syria raised €318.90. Thank you to all the great bakers and those who also made a donation to the cause.
