June ’15 Newsletter

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The school will be closed on Monday 1st June for the Bank Holiday.

As part of our Green School ‘Travel’ project we will be launching our Walk to School, which will begin on Tuesday 2nd June’15. Pupils and available Parents/Guardians should be at the community centre at 9a.m. We will then walk to the school. Every one will wear a hi- vis vest. Hi-vis vests will be available. From then we intend to have a WOW (Walk on Wednesday) day every week, where available Parents/Guardians are asked to leave their cars at the community centre and walk with the children to the school. Where this is not feasible we suggest Parents/Guardians should carpool on this day.

We will host our annual Ice Cream Day in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland on Friday 12th June’15. (Invite to follow).

Lenrec will be here on Wednesday 24th June ’15 to collect recycled clothing. Please bring any bags of clothes, you may have for recycling to the school by that date.

The pupils will be going to Airborne Gymnastics Studio for a demonstration of the bigger apparatus and equipment.

We will be having a sport day during this month, weather permitting.

In the next week or so we will be conducting the Micra and Sigma Ts testing. The results will be given to the Parents/Guardians. If any Parent/Guardian has any concerns, they are invited to contact the class teacher to discuss the results. A book list will be issued, and will also be on our website.

The Parents Association are organising a Bag Packing Day on 20th June (more details closer to the date).

Junior Infant parents are asked to purchase Busy at Maths for senior infants(C.J. FALLON) over the weekend,as they have completed their junior infant book.

The school will close at 12 noon on Friday 26th June ’15 for the Summer holidays and not on the 25th June ’15 as previously stated. This is due to us having to take a day for the All Ireland Table Tennis Finals.

We hope everyone has a great summer, and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 1st September ’15, when the school re-opens.

Fionnuala  Costello

Principal.
