Thank you to everyone who supported our Green School Flag Day and Our Ice Cream Day. Many thanks for all the lovely food that was enjoyed by everyone. Thanks to Val, Louise and Katie Roughneen, for their expertise. We all had a great day. The money raised for Down Syndrome on Ice Cream Day was €260. Well Done Everyone!!

Mary Brennan, our S.N.A. is leaving this year. As we celebrate the end of our school year, we will be having a school Mass. We would like to invite all Parents/Guardians and other guests to come to celebrate with us and to toast Mary’s many years of hard work, dedication and baking in our school. As a fitting farewell to both pupils and Mary, could you please bake/buy something nice to feast upon after the Mass.

School Self-Evaluation Report:

Introduction:

The focus of the evaluation

A school self-evaluation of teaching and learning in ManullaN.S. was undertaken during the period Sept.2012 to June 2014

During the evaluation, teaching and learning in the following curriculum areas were evaluated.

Numeracy: Understanding and using Mathematics.

This is a report of the findings of the evaluation:

School Context:

We currently have 32 pupils. There are 2 mainstream teachers and one shared Learning Support teacher.

We have a multi-class situation. Four Math Curriculums have to be taught.

The Findings:

Questionnaires were circulated to both parents and pupils. After careful scrutiny of these findings, we realised that more emphasis needed to be placed on Maths Language.

Analysis of our standardised tests confirmed our findings.

Summary of school self-evaluation findings:

Our school has strengths in the following areas.

  • Our standardised test results are good.
  • Knowledge of tables are good
  • Mental Maths is strong.
  • Positive attitude to Maths

The following areas are prioritised for improvement:

  • Maths language to be more visible in the school.

From everyone here, we wish you sunny and safe summer holidays. We look forward to seeing you all in September.

Yours sincerely.

Fionnuala Costello.

Principal.
